Mission

The Marriott School's educational mission is to:

Attract, develop, and place men and women of faith, character, and professional ability who will become outstanding leaders capable of dealing with change in a dynamic, global environment.

School
Brigham Young University's college of business became the School of Management in 1975. The school was named for Marriott Corporation founders J. Willard and Alice S. Marriott in 1988.
Approximately 2,200 undergraduate students and 850 graduate students are enrolled in the Marriott School. BYU’s total enrollment is approximately 29,000 students.
The Marriott School is housed in the N. Eldon Tanner Building, a seven-story, 120,000 square foot, granite builing located on the BYU campus in Provo, Utah.

Students Undergraduate
BYU’s undergraduate business program was recently ranked #8 overall by Business Week and #1 by corporate recruiters in the Business Week ranking. Students are very capable as can be seen by their college entrance exam (ACT) scores and high school GPA’s compared to four peer schools that are rated as top 10 undergraduate business programs by U.S. News and World Report, 2000 (Source: Time/Princeton Review, 2001).

The Marriott School’s accounting program is very highly rated, having achieved a No. 1 ranking by the Financial Times in 2006, a No. 2 ranking in the 2005 Public Accounting Report, and a No.6 ranking in 2003 by U.S. News and World Report.

Graduate
The Marriott School’s graduate accounting program achieved a No. 1 ranking by the Financial Times in 2006. BYU’s MBA students are also very capable as can be seen by their average GMAT scores relative to peer schools (Source: University web sites).

The MBA program has consistently been rated among top programs world wide. In 2007, The Wall Street Journal ranked the program 1st among regional schools, behind only 19 national business schools. WSJ ranked BYU’s MBA program 26st in the world and U.S. News & World Report ranked the program 29th in 2003 The MBA program was ranked No. 1 in payback by Business Week in 2000 and Forbes in 2001 and the Wall Street Journal ranked the program #2 in Ethics. BYU’s Entrepreneurship program has consistently been ranked in the top 25 schools.

Nearly 80 percent of the students are bilingual; about 20 percent speak a third language. Most have lived abroad.
The school enrolls approximately 10 percent international students.

Faculty
140 full-time faculty and 60 adjunct and visiting faculty
Strategy faculty are ranked #15 from 2003-2005 and in the top 20 since 2000 for publications in top tier strategy journals (e.g., SMJ, AMJ, AMR, Org. Science; citm.utdallas.edu/utrankings).
Many of the faculty are recognized experts and a number have served as leaders of professional organizations such as:
